In the summer of 2023, a group of Canadian Mennonites embarked on a train tour from Quebec City to Abbotsford, British Columbia with many stops at events along the way. They were tracing the journey of some 21,000 "Russlaender" Mennonites from the Soviet Union who immigrated to Canada in the 1920s. This documentary follows the train across the country as the passengers and their guides reflect on the events of 100 years ago and their resonance today.
Join the Mennonite Historical Society of Ontario and Institute of Mennonite Studies for the Ontario premiere of "The Russlaender Migration." Following the screening, Henry Paetkau will host a discussion.
